Assignment 1 - The History of Sound

Today you have to listen to your instructor. They will be giving you a sweet history lesson.
After your instructor has finished speaking, in your "Reflections" page, please write a post that is entitled "History of Sound"

In this reflection I would like you to write at least a paragraph explaining the importance of sound and sound effects in movies. Please provide a time when you noticed a good or bad sound effect in a movie and how it bettered or ruined your movie going experience.

Assignment 2 - Get Low

Contrary to the title, we will not be going to the window, or to the wall. It was just a great title.
Today we are exploring the importance of power! What does a high shot tell your audience? How about a low shot? How can you convey emotion in these shots? Can you have a low angle close up?

All of these questions are your job to answer. In the period, you are required to shoot a story that demonstrates your understanding of high and low shots in regards to status. If you are unclear of the requirements, please see your instructor for further clarification.

When you are finished, please post this video on Youtube and make a hyperlink to the post in your blog. On your Audio/Video page, please title this assignment Assignment 2- High/Low, Get Low, etc.

Assignment 3 - Shoot it again, Sam.

The title is from a classic movie

Your assignment is simple, working with people you have not worked with yet, you will chose a scene from a movie that you wish to recreate. The scenes must be as close to the original as you can make it. This includes costumes, lighting and props. The costumes and props you are required to obtain yourselves. Please note that if the movie you have chosen is animated, that is fine but it will be recreated with people. The purpose of this assignment, like in the clip above is to demonstrate emotions on film. How do you look when you're happy, sad, confused? How do these looks change when you're on camera as opposed to onstage? All of these questions are important and need careful consideration.

You will be required to make a shot list, storyboard, and script for this assignment. It is imperative that people know their lines so that this can be shot in the shortest amount of time possible.

When you are finished, please include in your blog the following:
A hyperlink to the finished work that you have edited yourself
Your shot list
Your script
Your reflection on how you think this assignment went. What were the most challenging aspects?
